Division 1

The bats were busy at Essendon on Sunday, and when the dust cleared Melbourne had a 9-8 win over Essendon.

Hitters on both sides were strong at the plate as the teams combined for 26 hits, including seven extra base hits.

The top of the first saw Melbourne take an early lead, 6-0. A single by Adam Burton, plating Rob Hondromatidis started the inning off. More runs came home for Melbourne when Burton and Aron scored on a two-run single by Mitch Ayres and Kent and Ayres scored on a two-run double by Matt Blackmore.

Matt Blackmore racked up four RBIs on three hits for Melbourne. He doubled in the first inning, singled in the third inning, and homered in the seventh inning.

Russell Spear had an impressive outing in middle relief against Melbourne's lineup. Melbourne managed just three hits off of Edwards, who allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out three during his five innings of work.

Essendon posted one run in each of the second, third, fifth, and ninth, 2 of these from home runs to Josh Davies.

Evan Brisentine threw 5.1 innings for the Demons with 8 hits, 4 BBs, 5 Ks and 5 runs. 

Closing the game out was Liam Davine who threw 3.1 allowing 2 hits, 4 BBs, 3 Ks and 0 ER.

Second Nine

Drew with Essendon 4 all after holding off a late Essendon rally.

Third Nine

Had an excellent Mercy rule win 12-1 over ladder leader Essendon.


Fourth Nine

Lost to Top of the table Essendon 4-11 despite being just 2 runs down in the last inning before falling away.

Division 4 East

Lost to Monash Uni 13-2 but struggled with absentees.
