The program will run from late November through to December and will return in January and run thru to mid February. The program will consist of short sessions on Friday evening’s teaching skills and basic game knowledge to inexperienced future stars.

U10 Rookie Ball is for 8-10 year olds that are physically advanced and/or possess good hand eye coordination, may enjoy the new U10 Rookie Ball program. This Rookie Ball program will be run by the Eastern Athletics Charter and may introduce Gala Days on Saturdays to play against other charter clubs. These details are still to be confirmed.

Little League – born after 1st May 2006

Melbourne will again host Little League games on both Friday evening and Sunday morning. There has been a change in the structure of Little League so please read the following notes carefully. Players born after 1st May 2005 are eligible for Little League for this season only.

Melbourne is part of a regional “charter” consisting of local clubs – Melbourne, Blackburn, Doncaster, Upwey, Ormond, Malvern and Waverley. All Little League games, minor and major, played by our club will be played home and away against these clubs ONLY.

Sunday mornings will be a Major League competition suitable for those selected to play a higher level of competition and qualify for extension programs. Significantly, players wishing to participate in the Victorian Little League State Championships – April 2019 - as part of our regional charter squad, will have to play Major League Sunday mornings to qualify. The charter system provides a pathway to State Championships, Australian Championships and the Little League World Series in the USA for the winning Australian Charter.

Training for Little League - details still TBC but will be held on Wednesday nights at Myrtle Park Nth Balwyn or Surrey Park Box Hill depending on Coach and ground availability - 6:00 to 7:30pm

All Little league players can try out for the Eastern Athletics Charter Academy program this year that will consist of a series of games and specialist training sessions that will be run on Saturdays parallel with our regular season from December until March.
