1sts vs Geelong - Lost 1-0 - Again

For the second time in a week Melbourne has failed to score against Geelong in the the latest of the close tight matches. Midweek out at Altona, Andy Mann returning from the AAA Championships was outstanding in only giving up one run all night. Unfortunately the Geelong defence held solid behind Cameron Forbes to hold on for the closest of victories.

On Sunday at Surrey Park, Daryn Cassidy was outstanding on the mound only giving up one unearned run. Unfortunately the bats couldn't fire when required and despite bases loaded with no outs and a couple of other chances in the game to score the pivitot stat of RISP (runners in scoring position) remained at 0.

A quick look at the ladder sees the job a little more difficult now to make the finals. Had both games this week gone the other way we would be a game out with 2 games in hand. As it stands we are 5 games back with 2 games in hand on the top games played.
