The drama for the Grand Final was set with Melbourne facing the only team we hadn't beat all season, St. Kilda, losing both previous matches quite convincingly. And the first inning lived up to its billing with St. Kilda going down scoreless after their number 3 batter bowled over our catcher, Chris Andrews, trying to score, only to find the plate umpire calling him out. With Enoch Shen starting us off we defended our ground and scored 2 in the bottom of the first with Chao Shih and Hudson Gerwing touching the plate.
We found ourselves down 6-4 going into the bottom of the third; but responded strongly scoring 13 runs to take command of the game.
From then it was lights out pitching from Trent Grabham and Steve Gerwing. Each only giving up one run.
We tacked on a few more against shell-shocked St. Kilda and Ethan VanderHoff caught the final out of the game for the second consecutive finals game to finish the season in celebratory fashion as Division 4 East Premiers.
